This week's racing news....................
Friday March 27
Mansell goes round in a suitable 1600m Maiden at Warwick Farm next Tuesday. His last start 3rd at his first run since being gelded was his best for some time and he gets his chance to break through on Tuesday. If he is ever going to win a city race this could be his best chance.
Friday March 14.
We look like having 2 runners this week, the highly rated but slow to deliver MANSELL and the injury prone GALILEO'S DREAM. Mansell, now over his gelding operation, heads to Hawkesbury for a 1300m Maiden where John O'Shea has the highly talented Engineer who will be fave and the likely winner.
Mansell has had enormous wraps on him when trained by Anthony Cummings but has shown nothing in 5 runs to justify these wraps. Doubtful even after gelding if can improve much, looks a one paced batter who will probably win a weak 1600m Maiden somewhere but not today. GALILEO'S DREAM (pictured right) has had everything bar a fractured eye lash and in his 3 starts to date hasn't shown much either. He goes to Oakbank for a 1MW race Saturday, tough placement when you consider he is still a Maiden so not likely to threaten any of the opposition on Satruday.
Friday March 7.
Tawakoni is off to Sale races today to resume in a suitable 0-72 1400m race with Jason Benbow taking the ride. With a few minor hiccups along the way so far this prep, I Glad to inform you that the horse appears to be free of everything and will head to the races quite a fit horse but with natural improvement to come. Jumping from gate 5 of 11 in a race with four or five genuine chances, we anticipate the horse will be very competitive today and should get a lovely run through the race and have something to offer in the final 200m. We do believe that this horse should be winning races better than this once up to 1600m & further so naturally should be doing well in this class first up from a break. In summary a nice first up option on a big track that he has won at and suggest with normal luck in running, he has a good each way chance. Good luck!
Friday March 1
Our up and coming galloper Aarondight (left) takes his place in Saturdays Group 2 Alistar Clark Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley.
A winner at his past 2 starts, Arondight has only had 3 runs and at his first start was a close 3rd to subsequent Melbourne Cup runner Moatize.
Arondight resumed this prep with a gutsy win after being wide most of the way.
